Therapy, willpower, self help - you've tried it all, maybe even some things you'd rather not admit. Here's why it hasn't worked
Real feedback from people who've worked with us.

Your body reacting like there's danger, even when you know you're safe. Racing thoughts before bed, a tight chest before a big meeting - we help calm become your default, not something you have to try and ache.
Low mood, flat motivation, or feeling stuck in the same patterns no matter what you try. We help shift the patterns and thinking that keep you feeling weighed down, so getting up each day feels less like a battle.
Most people have tried patches, gum, or sheer willpower - and most of the time it doesn't stick, because the urge isn't just about the cigarette itself. We help you address the cause, not just the habit.
When a habit's stopped being a choice - when you know it's not good for you, but the pull still wins. We work with what's actually driving that pull, not just your willpower to resist it.
Not another diet, and not another app counting calories. We work with the relationship between your mind and food - why you eat, not just what - so change actually lasts.
Repetitive thoughts or rituals that feel impossible to switch off, even when you know they don't make sense. We help quiet the noise so your mind isn't running the same loop on repeat.
Walking into the room, the interview, or the stage - and having your nerves get in the way of you at your best. We help the version of you that already knows what to do show up when it counts.
Lying awake with your mind still running, night after night, worried about the next day. We help you find your way back to real, restful sleep - not just tired enough to nod off, but properly rested.
Flying, needles, heights, or something more specific to you - a fear that's bigger than the actual danger. We address it directly, rather than just helping you manage around it for the rest of your life.
Here's what we usually get asked
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic conversation that uses a natural, focused state of relaxation to work with the part of your mind that runs your habits, reactions and patterns — not the part you consciously reason with. It's not about being "put under" or losing awareness; it's a guided process aimed at real, lasting change.
No, you remain fully aware and in control the entire time. Nothing happens without your consent, and you can't be made to say or do anything against your will.
It's different for everyone. Some people feel deeply relaxed, some describe it as euphoric, and others say it feels like nothing much at all — just a normal conversation. There's no single "correct" way it's supposed to feel, and all of these are completely normal.
You're aware throughout, though for some people the memory afterward is quite vague - more like recalling a daydream than a clear, sharp memory. Either way, you're never unconscious or "switched off.
Most people can, to some degree. The main thing that matters is being willing to engage with the process - it's less about a special personal trait and more about openness.
For most people, hypnotherapy is extremely effective, and the changes can be genuinely life-changing. How deeply and quickly that happens varies from person to person - some people respond very fast, others take more time. Honestly, there's also a small number of people - around 3% that we're not able to help, including in some cases where a cognitive or intellectual disability makes it harder to engage with the process. We'd rather tell you that upfront than pretend otherwise.
Traditional hypnosis usually starts with a formal induction - eyes closed, a countdown, a fixed script of direct suggestions. That's not how we work. We use our own refined approach - one that feels like a normal conversation, using natural language, metaphor and story rather than direct commands, adapting in real time to you rather than following a script - with you staying in the driver's seat throughout, rather than being directed by the therapist. It's the same approach every practitioner at Moving Minds is trained in, so you'll get it no matter who you work with.
It varies. Some programs are two sessions, others we'll suggest as many as six, depending on what you're working on.
Yes - non-invasive, drug-free, and considered safe for most people.
Both are effective; it comes down to what's more convenient for you.
The cost varies by program. Between $520-$1320
We don't offer single sessions or pay-as-you-go, and here's honestly why: plenty of people feel significantly better - even life-changing better - after just one session. But feeling better for a week or a month isn't the goal. I want to be there with you through the normal ups and downs that follow, so those changes actually get integrated and stay part of your life permanently, not just something that faded after the initial shift wore off. That's what the program is really built around.
Step 1 - We find the underlying problem
Before anything else, we get a clear picture of what is going on - not just the surface symptom, but what's underneath iit. We'll talk you through what to expect, so there is no mystery before we begin.
Step 2 - We adapt to you, in real time
No generic script, and no fixed plan handed to you upfront. What happens in session is shaped moment to moment, around what's actually coming up for you - not something decided in advance.
Step 3 - We stay with you through it
Session one often feels like a breakthrough - and it usually is. But breakthroughs get tested on the hard days, not the easy ones. We stay with you through this, so the change holds. Not just for a good week, for good.
I started Moving Minds Hypnotherapy in 2015. Since then, I've spent over 20,000 hours in session - working through anxiety, habits, weight, and confidence with real people.
I started out in traditional, clinical hypnosis - formal induction, fixed script. Over time, I moved toward something more conversational: less a set process, more genuinely responding to the person in front of me, in real time. That shift is now the foundation of everything we do at Moving Minds.
In 2022 also founded the Australian Hypnosis Training Academy, where I get to see the best up-and-coming hypnotherapists thatsthe country has to offer. This is where I found Hannah and Kimberlee.
Hannah and Kimberlee
Two of the best practitioners to come through the Academy. I mentored them both personally, and I'd trust either of them completely with my own family.
